At profiq, we’re looking for a Senior Elixir Developer to help modernize a mature software platform for one of our long-term international clients. You’ll take a legacy service that has grown difficult to maintain and give it a new life in Elixir - rewriting it from the ground up while keeping its existing API contracts intact.
You’ll join a small, focused team, work closely with a project architect, and have a real say in how the platform evolves - from architecture and tooling to the interfaces other teams depend on.
💻 What will you do?
- Rewrite an existing package library service from C# / ASP.NET to Elixir, preserving its behavior and honoring existing API references.
- Design and build clean, well-structured APIs in Elixir that other teams can rely on.
- Work with XML data formats and PostgreSQL as the primary data store.
- Modernize antiquated services and tooling that are difficult to use, improving the experience for the whole team.
- Own features end-to-end - from design and implementation to testing, deployment, and production monitoring.
- Help shape processes, tooling, and external team-facing interfaces as the project grows.
🛠 What do we expect from you?
- 5+ years of professional software development experience.
- Hands-on experience with Elixir, or a strong functional programming background and the drive to go all-in on Elixir.
- Solid experience with relational databases - especially PostgreSQL - and writing and maintaining database migrations.
- Experience designing and maintaining APIs, including keeping backward compatibility during a rewrite.
- Ability to read and understand C# / .NET codebases well enough to port existing logic faithfully.
- Familiarity with XML and other structured data formats.
- A strong grasp of testing and test-driven development, code reviews, and pragmatic design.
- English for daily communication in an international team.
💡 Nice to have
- Experience with Phoenix, OTP, and building fault-tolerant Elixir systems.
- A track record of migrating or rewriting legacy systems without disrupting existing consumers.
- Experience improving developer tooling, CI/CD, and engineering processes.
- Interest in long-term ownership of a product and the ecosystem around it.
